Zithromax was discovered by a group of Croatian chemists in 1980, and it was later patented by Pfizer in 1981. It is most widely available in pill form and its main use is not always for the treatment of acne. As an antibiotic, it can also be used to treat strep throat, respiratory tract infection, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia, COPD, and sinus infections. It has also been noted to be used in the treatment of uninary tract infections and some sexually transmitted diseases. Zithromax also has a wide range of conditions in which it is prescribed to children. Some of these conditions include but are not limited to: tonsillitis, ear infections, pneumonia, and strep throat.
